Some women who used the Depo-Provera birth control shot are now filing lawsuits after being diagnosed with meningioma brain tumors. These cases allege that long-term use of Depo-Provera increased the risk of developing tumors and that patients were not adequately warned about the danger.
Depo-Provera is an injectable birth control typically given every three months. Recent research suggests extended use may be linked to meningiomas, which can cause headaches, vision problems, seizures, balance issues and other serious symptoms. As a result, lawsuits against Pfizer and other manufacturers have been consolidated into a federal multi-district litigation (MDL) to streamline the legal process.
In this video, we explain:
-What the Depo-Provera lawsuits are about
-How meningiomas are linked to long-term Depo-Provera use
-Who may qualify to file a claim
-What medical and prescription records are important
-Why filing deadlines (statutes of limitation) matter
You may qualify for a Depo-Provera lawsuit if:
-You received at least two Depo-Provera injections (or an approved generic)
-You were later diagnosed with a meningioma, confirmed by MRI or CT scan
-You are within your state’s legal filing deadline, which can be as short as 1–3 years after diagnosis
