The Road to Canterbury | Pilgrims Way | Last Day

Описание: Day 9 the last day of the Pilgrims Way, England's Oldest Pilgrimage from Winchester to Canterbury following the ancient tracks of the pilgrims way. The first part of the trail follows St Swithun's Way a 34 mile route from Winchester to Farnham, then onwards walking along side the North Downs Way to Canterbury and eventually to Dover the full route crosses 3 counties and stretches 187 miles.

As we continue to keep to the Pilgrims Trail, today we start at Dunn street campsite as we walk the last 14 miles to Canterbury and to the Shrine of Thomas Becket where I have a Blessing booked, but first we need to reach Canterbury as we shall do by passing Eastwell Estate and Manor, Godmersham both places Jane Austen the author visited then onto Chilham passing Chilham castle and next we head for Chartham Hatch passing reindeers we head down to Canterbury and seeking our first glimpse of the Cathedral. Passing the city gates we make a slight alteration to our attire and head for the Cathedral to receive the blessing as we reach the end of the trail from Winchester to Canterbury.
