Stuck in park and can't shift into other gears with your automatic transmission? There are two interlocks that have to be met:
1) Brake pedal must be fully depressed
2) Key must be in the on position
These two conditions are controlled by a cable from the brake pedal to the shifter and another cable from the key switch to the shifter.
