In today’s Saint Story for Kids, we learn about Saint Eulalia of Barcelona, a 13-year-old girl who showed extraordinary courage during the persecution of Christians.
Saint Eulalia lived around 289–304 AD in Barcelona. During the Diocletian persecution, she boldly defended her faith. Tradition says she endured 13 tortures, one for each year of her life. Her final suffering was on an X-shaped cross, which remains her symbol today.
Her story is filled with powerful signs:
A white dove rising at her death, symbolising her pure soul
A sudden miraculous snowfall to protect her modesty
13 white geese still kept at Barcelona Cathedral to remember her life
Saint Eulalia is the co-patroness of Barcelona, and is invoked by sailors, travellers, and those praying for rain.
In this episode, children will learn:
Who Saint Eulalia was
What courage in faith looks like
Why martyrs are remembered with honour
How purity and bravery can shine even in youth
Saint Eulalia’s story gently teaches kids that age does not limit holiness, and that loving Jesus with a fearless heart leaves a lasting light.
