The Shah Jahan Mosque had been abandoned for years. Sir Zafrullah Khan was one of the first to begin the efforts to revitalise the first purpose-built mosque in England.
This series uncovers Woking, a town in Surrey, England, is a fascinating blend of history and diversity. It's home to the Shah Jahan Mosque, the first purpose-built mosque in Britain, which stands as a symbol of the town's multicultural community. Sadly, Woking was also the site of a tragedy with the death of Sara Sharif, a young girl whose case sparked national attention. Despite this, Woking remains a vibrant place with a rich tapestry of cultures and traditions, making it a unique and compelling subject for a series.
