Mobile Launcher 2 Project - Rig and Set

Описание: Our #Bechtel team at Kennedy Space Center reached a major milestone on one of NASA’s most ambitious projects, Mobile Launcher 2—by safely stacking the first tower module, Mod 4, onto the launch platform’s tower chair.🏗️

This achievement marks continued progress on the construction of the ML2 tower, which will stand 377 feet once complete. This tower will play a critical role in assembling and launching NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) Block 1B rocket that will power the Artemis IV mission—sending astronauts further into space and laying the groundwork for future Moon and Mars exploration. 🌙🚀

Mod 4 arrived on site after a 6-mile drive down one of Kennedy Space Center’s busiest roads. To lift Mod 4 on the base, our team used a DEMAG CC-8800 Crawler Crane—the same crane that helped build the famous MSG Sphere in Las Vegas. This crane is so large and so complex, it arrived on-site via 110+ semi-trucks and took 4 weeks to assemble.

With Mod 4 now secure, we’re preparing to stack six more modules in the coming months. Each step is a testament to the teamwork, safety, and commitment to quality required to support #NASA in pushing the boundaries of human space exploration.
