Krzysztof Matyjaszewski is a polymer chemist and best recognized for his discovery of atom transfer radical polymerization, which has effectively changed the way such molecules are created. In 1985, Matyjaszewski joined the chemistry department at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA and remains there as the founding director for the university’s Center for Macromolecular Engineering. Along with his research interests in living, controlled radical polymerization, he works on catalysis, environmental chemistry, and the synthesis of advanced materials for optoelectronic and biomedical applications. http://bit.ly/2nYapjN
Mitsuo Sawamoto received bachelor, graduate, and doctoral degrees in polymer chemistry from Kyoto University. Sawamoto has served as the President of the Society of Polymer Science in Japan in addition to serving as an executive member of the Science Council of Japan. Sawamoto is an editor for the Journal of Polymer Science. From 2007 to 2011, he served as project leader of the International Center for Integrated Research and Advanced Education in Materials Science for the Kyoto University Global Center of Excellence. http://bit.ly/2o1S45J
