I watched a woman proudly say she left her 10-year marriage because her husband was poor.
Not abusive.
Not irresponsible.
Not unfaithful.
Poor.
And she said it would have been “abnormal” to leave if he was rich.
As an Igbo man, I felt ashamed.
Ashamed for Imo State.
Ashamed for what social media is turning African values into.
When did marriage become a luxury sponsorship deal?
This is bigger than one woman.
This is about what we are teaching the next generation about love, dignity, partnership, and grace.
