EJSS has had its most successful year yet. In June, our Impact Factor jumped from 1.79 to 2.69! This elevated us from the 31st ranked journal (out of 82) in the Sport Sciences category to 15th (out of 81), making us one of the highest ranked multidisciplinary sport science journals in the world. This certainly reflects the increased influence that the papers published in EJSS are having on knowledge and practice in sport science. The number of papers submitted to EJSS for review also increased markedly (1300+) and led to the appointment of new Section Editors to cope with the increased demand. However, competition for space in the journal is fierce and our acceptance rate is presently just 9%, such that only the very best papers we receive are published. Last year saw us introduce the ‘Best Paper Award’ which was won, despite stiff competition, by Dr Lennart Raudsepp for his paper entitled “Bidirectional association between sedentary behaviour and depressive symptoms in adolescent girls.” Our social media presence remains very strong (with 11.7k+ Twitter followers) and we have introduced video abstracts in which authors provide visual summaries of the key points of their published papers.
