While this way doesn't work for the GBA version, it may work for the other versions of the game. It was written in the official guide, so I would assume this is an intended method. It does take a bit more focus than the other route, but this is TECHNICALLY faster. The only other enemies that you can steal elixirs from are Strappers (World 2 near Exdeath's Castle) Zu (Rare, near Karnak) Gigas (Inside Karnak Castle while burning) and Flare Mage (Inside the Fork Tower)
Tonberrys are immediately accessible in the late game and you can steal from it up to FIVE times!
Strat: Have someone with the steal ability, and the rest as Mimes. The other abilities such as First Strike and Vigilance are strongly recommended, but optional. You should have someone who can use LV 3 time magic, or can equip the Wonder Rod. Steal from the Tonberry and use the Return spell or Wonder Rod when its pockets are empty.
