Higher Graphics - CAD Modelling - Bag Carrier Task

Описание: This short video explains the process of CAD modelling the 'Bag Carrier' task from the Design Class website, using Autodesk Inventor. This is typically a Higher Graphics task, however it could be used in N5 classes for students showing a high degree of competency.

For most CAD models, there are often a number of ways to complete each task, and this rule definitely applies here. The main consideration for students at National 5 and Higher level should be 'what is the most effective way to make the model?' in terms of the amount of time taken to model the object, and whether the method they've chosen is unnecessarily difficult. This needs to be a focus when it comes to tasks like this as time can often be wasted by selecting incorrect or ineffective methods.

And as always, one of the most important aspects of making any CAD model is to be able to correctly interpret sizes from an engineering drawing. In this task students should pay close attention to the dimensions of the circles, ellipses, and angled lines.

(An alternative method of modelling this object would be to create the first three profiles on the same sketch, however it may then be trickier to copy the circular detail to paste it onto the perpendicular work plane in the final stage of the task)
