In this video I will be using surface lures & soft plastic paddle tail lures whilst fishing under the hills & cliffs on the north coast of Jersey in the Channel Islands.
This video is ideal for beginners that want to learn about lure fishing for bass from a kayak.

So for this trip the weather was looking pretty settled for a morning session out on the kayak targeting bass on the lures.
With a low swell and a light wind predicted for the morning I made my way out to the north coast of the island with the intension of fishing some of my favorite marks from the kayak.
Little hidden coves full of cave systems which oftern hold lots of baitfish this time of year that seem to congregate very close to the shorline whilst sheltering from the strong running tide on the open stretch of coast.
The tide was also ideal to fish some of the pockets of reefs that can be found on the outskirts of some of the bays and usually if the coves arnt holding any baitfish or predatory fish then the inshore reefs usually do.

This would be the third attempt of the year to fish this location. The two previous trips were unsuccessful as the swell was far too big to be out solo kayaking so I had to cut my losses within an hour or so out on the water.

In this video you will see footage of me using surface lures in the small coves & soft plastics paddle tail lures close in against the cliffs whilst trying to catch some bass.
