Must-Eat Food & Great Views in Florence (Giant Sandwiches, Steak & Gelato) | Italy Road Trip Ep. 10

Описание: Italy Vlog episode 10: We finally arrived in Florence, Tuscany – our final stop on our road trip and we dedicated our stay to finding some of the best street food in Florence. And of course we also wanted to catch some great views of the city, as it’s very, very picturesque. So for our first full day in Florence we start of with a sightseeing double feature: the Galleria dell'Accademia, which is home to Michelangelo’s statue of David and afterwards we got ready to climb to the top of Florence’s Duomo. You can enter the main part of the cathedral for free, but if you want to experience one of the best views of Florence, you have to buy tickets to climb a few hundred steps up to the Cupola del Brunelleschi (Brunelleschi's Dome).

It was then time to check out Florence’s most famous street food snack/sandwich shop: All’Antico Vinaio. All’Antico Vinaio is famous all over the world and beloved by tourists and locals alike. They have multiple sandwich shops in one street and they’re always busy and there are often long queues during peak times. But the wait is definitely worth it! You can get some incredibly tasty combinations here that revolve around high quality ham, sausages, cheeses and sauces.

After finishing the giant sandwiches, we made our way to the other side of the river that splits Florence in two. On the other side you’ll find the Oltrarno region of Florence, which is more artsy and alternative and has some great eateries and bars. Here you can also find a variety of different gardens and the Piazzale Michelangelo, a square that offers the best views of Florence if you also want to see the Duomo in its entire glory.

We then checked out the rose garden (Giardino delle Rose) that is directly next to the Piazzale and then unnecessarily walked around in the hot sun for quite some time. So we cooled off with some of the best gelato in the world, which you can find at Gelateria dei Neri. Definitely a recommendation for great gelato and it’s very close to the sandwich shops!

For dinner we went to Trattoria Sergio Gozzi, a great restaurant near our apartment, to try the famous Florentine steak, which didn’t disappoint! It’s huge, but manageable if you’re sharing it. It’s very tasty and it goes really well with some nice wine to round off the evening.

In the previous episodes we spent some days eating and sightseeing in Rome, rented a classic Fiat 500 and drove to the Le Marche region in Italy, before heading off to Tuscany. We explored the beautiful towns of Montepulciano and Pienza, as well as famous Tuscan dishes and Pecorino. We then visited a winery in Montepulciano, before driving to the majestic town of San Gimignano, where we also stayed in an Agriturismo. Oh and in between we also went on a speed-sightseeing trip through Siena. We explored San Gimignano, tried the local wine, visited Volterra and experienced Tuscany from above in our first hot air balloon ride. We then made our way to Florence, on which we made a quick stop on the highway to check out an Autogrill – Italy’s most famous highway rest stop.
