Our trees have been having a rough time lately — drought, freeze, oak wilt, invaders such as the emerald ash borer, and diseases. Especially since the winter storm of 2021 and the drought, trees are more susceptible to disease and pests moving in.
Woodland ecologist Kimberlee Peterson from the Texas A&M Forest Service helps explain what’s happening with our stressed-out trees.
Kimberlee is based in Mineral Wells and is responsible for 29 counties in North Central Texas. She grew up in Mansfield and has a master’s degree in agriculture and natural resources from Tarleton State University. She joined the A&M Forest Service in 2021.
