Episode 2 of the Ditton 88 story.
Here we dismantle one of the crossovers from the kit of parts that I bought from France. I make a switched circuit to hear the difference between new and old capacitors that I have recently bought. The OEs are 38 years old 10% electrolytic.
After initially thinking they made a difference. I came away without really hearing a difference in the end and am glad I never paid for more expensive than I did.
Basically I wired up three switches so each switch could switch between new and old capacitors and I/we can hear the difference if there was any.
If you think you can hear a rattle from the woofers with Whitney, this is caused by the midrange cage rubbing against the woofer cage, I see this and move it at 45:57.
