1970s Drill Press Restoration
In this video, I restore a vintage 1970s Hitachi BE-3600 drill press. This old Japanese machine had been used for decades and was in very poor condition, with rust, dirt, worn parts, and faded labels.
The restoration process includes a full disassembly of the machine, rust removal, deep cleaning, repairing damaged components, polishing metal parts, and reassembling everything to bring the drill press back to working condition.
A new custom safety guard was also fabricated and installed to replace the missing original protection. This improves safety during operation while still preserving the classic vintage look of the machine.
Vintage tools like this were built with durable materials and solid engineering, which makes restoring them both possible and satisfying. Seeing an old tool come back to life is always rewarding.
