About This Video

For nearly 50 years, the Sacramento Chinese Community Service Center has been a cornerstone of support for immigrant and refugee families. What began in 1978 as a small organization helping Chinese American newcomers navigate language and cultural barriers has grown into a region‑wide network of more than 90 school sites offering before‑school care, after‑school programs, KinderCare, mentorship opportunities, youth leadership development, academic support, robotics, and enrichment clubs.

This video highlights personal stories from former students, current team leaders, and families who have experienced the full circle of community transformation—children who once needed support now returning as mentors shaping the next generation. Their stories reveal the power of safe spaces, trustworthy adults, and programs built on compassion, cultural understanding, and belonging.
