A multidisciplinary research team at Virginia Tech is using unmanned aerial and ground vehicles on construction sites to find a way to perform real-time inspections for the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). The plan is required by the EPA to prevent stormwater pollution.
The team's goal is to remove the inspectors of construction sites from hazardous situations during SWPPP inspections.
The current team is comprised of students from construction engineering and management,
mechanical engineering, and computer science.
