India landslides: Himachal Pradesh cloudburst destroys villages, dozens missing

A cloudburst in northern India's Himachal Pradesh state resulted in a catastrophic landslide and flooding, leading to a devastating aftermath. Dozens remain missing as emergency workers conduct search operations in the region.
"About 49 people are missing but more are being reported. Thankfully, there were no more cloudbursts since last night. The weather has cleared up a bit today and we are carrying out search and rescue," said Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh.
Naresh Kumar, a villager from Rampur, said, "A huge incident occurred in which many of our relatives died. So we are going back to their homes for their funeral."
Nearly 1,000 people have been rescued and at least 12 lives have been lost due to the torrential rainfall, causing widespread damage in the Himalayas.
