Описание: One of the goals of Bebunyian Sound Art Festival is to cultivate an appreciation for the art of listening. This practice is honed in the Sound Walk in which our mobile phones are used as a recording device.
Guided by cultural activist and walking advocate Anitha Silvia (Pertigaan Maps) and sound artist Jin Sangtae (dotolim), the Sound Walk is an immersive experience which guides participants to tune in to their surroundings via sound, and experience an embodied connection with the surrounding environment and community.

The route of the Sound Walk centers around Pasar Keputran – a venerable traditional market in Surabaya. In the wake of modernisation, the closure of traditional markets has erased these once-familiar sounds and sensory encounters from our contemporary lives. The Sound Walk, therefore, offers an opportunity not only to attune ourselves to our surroundings but also to document a cultural artifact that might otherwise fade with time.

A short workshop at the end of the Sound walk allowed participants to share their recordings, and create a collective sound composition together, conducted by sound artists Eri Rukmana, and guided by Jin Sangtae. The workshop highlighted the unique audio landscape of Pasar Keputran, captured through participant's individual recordings.
