Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson says the
government is determined to uncover the causes behind a series of
building collapses across the country. This follows the death of nine
people when a structure under construction in Ormonde, Johannesburg,
caved in. Similar incidents have recently occurred in George and
Durban. Master Builders South Africa President Sam Ngcongo weighs in
on the rising trend and its possible causes.
