A few nerdy tidbits:

1. Multi-tracking yourself takes a LOT of meticulous attention to every little detail (intonation, phrasing, time-feel, etc.) and it’s definitely one of the best ways to improve your playing. I highly recommend you try it (or do it more often!) 🎯

2. Playing the “bass part” was possible thanks to my 4-valve trumpet, and the mouthpiece I designed to maximize its low register potential. It’s basically an alto horn cup (19mm inner diameter) and of all our mouthpieces, getting the geometry right for THIS one to play in tune across the full range of the horn was the biggest challenge by far. But, as you can hear - totally worth it!! We haven’t begun producing them for sale yet, but we will soon. Write us at LOTUS if you’re interested. 💣

3. HUGE “Thank You!” to David Ames for doing a fabulous job with the mix. (Do yourself a favor and listen with your best speakers/headphones!) David’s been such a wonderful collaborator over the last couple of years. He did an amazing job mixing/mastering my album “Live in Argentina” and my tracks with ALDEA. I hope you’re familiar with both projects! 🙏

4. I managed to purchase all 8 of those spectacular headwear accessories in under 20 minutes, in just 2 stores, for under €20. As I don’t really have a use for them now, any one of them could be yours for merely the price of postage. Just say the word. 🎁

5. This was the maiden voyage for my new recording setup: Royer R-121 ribbon microphone and Universal Audio x8p audio interface. I’m in love with both of them. 👍👍

6. I fractured my wrist when I was 18, and had to spend months playing with only my right hand. I’m still thankful for that experience, as it prepared me for things like conducting (or shaking sleigh bells!) while playing, without using too much inward pressure. Controlled, one-handed playing comes in handy more often than you might expect. 🤘
