Ingredients:
~ 4 cups of day-old bread (preferably white bread or brioche, cubed)
~1 litre of whole milk (or half-and-half for a richer pudding)
~3/4 cup of granulated sugar
~6 large eggs
~1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
~1/4 cup of brown sugar (for topping, optional)
1/4 cup of heavy cream (optional, for extra richness or to drizzle on top)
For serving (optional):
Caramel sauce, vanilla sauce, or whipped cream
Description :-
Prepare the Bread:
Cube the day-old bread into bite-sized pieces. If the bread is too fresh or soft, toast the cubes lightly in thoven for 5-10 minutes until they’re slightly dry.
Make the Custard:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg (optional), and salt. Make sure everything is well combined.
Combine Bread and Custard:
Add the cubed bread to the custard mixture and gently stir to ensure all the bread cubes are soaked. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the liquid.
Add Raisins (Optional):
If you’re using raisins (or other dried fruits or chocolate chips), fold them into the mixture.
Transfer to Baking Dish:
Pour the soaked bread mixture into the prepared baking dish. Us bread and make sure it’s spread out nicely.
Optional Topping:
Sprinkle brown sugar on top of the pudding for a nice caramelized crust.
Bake:
Bake the bread pudding in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. The pudding should be firm but slightly custardy in the middle.
Cool and Serve:
Allow the bread pudding to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce, vanilla sauce, or a scoop of whipped cream if desired.
