After a long 3 year hiatus due to the (you know what) pandemic, the New York Transit Museum announced the return of one of its most famous events which is the Parade of Trains that occurs along the Brighton Line between Brighton Beach and Kings Highway where passengers can ride vintage trains of their choice for just a swipe of their MetroCard that took place on the weekend of September 17-18, 2022 from 11 AM to 4 PM both days.
This year's Parade of Trains featured a new member to the museum fleet, that being the "Thunderbird" R10 #3189 which was formerly locked up in Pitkin Yard as a training car until it was restored to one of its original paint schemes from the 1960s. R10 3189 was also paired up to R10 3183 and R16 6387, other trains that were running included the BRT Brooklyn Union Elevated Gate Cars, the IND R1-9s (Arnines), the BMT AB Standards as well as a surprise visit from a 4 car consist of now retired Budd Company R32s which were only used as an emergency after the AB Standards were giving issues. The event was also proudly sponsored by Kawasaki Heavy Rail Industries.
In this video multiple clips of the R1-9s, the R10s and R16, BRT Gate Cars and the R32s can be seen with some action at Kings Highway, Neck Road and Brighton Beach. All clips were taken on September 17, 2022.
