A Ukrainian Lullaby played on the Bandura; the national instrument of Ukraine. Recorded in Leeds, Yorkshire on March 26th 2022.
"Dream" and "Sleep" pass by a window and ask where they should rest tonight. Inside the cottage it is warm and there is a little child and a cat. They decide they will go in and sing to the child and rock them to sleep.
The similarity between the first line of the Lullaby and the melody of "Summertime" composed in 1933 by George Gershwin is said to be because Gershwin was deeply affected when he heard it sung by the Ukrainian National Choir in New York in the late 1920s.
