Описание: Having a Tesla, or any EV for that matter, means you need to be able to charge it at home if you want to maximize the convenience of owning an EV. Parking your Model Y in the garage and plugging in every night means that you have a full charge every morning, no more stops at the gas station!

While there are many options for charging solutions, many new homes are now coming with a 14-50 Receptacle installed in the garage. Further, many EV owners are getting 14-50's installed in their garage for convenience/cost of install. While this is not the preferred method for safely charging your EV's daily, it does work, and many people do this every day without issue.

The problem comes when the equipment you are using isn't up for the job. It's not just the charger you select that matters, it's actually even more important that the receptacle you are using is specifically made for this application! Did you know that most off the shelf 14-50 Receptacles are made to withstand a few hours of use a week? Most aren't even made to be plugged in more than several times in its life.

Most of these receptacles are made to power a stove or a dryer, essentially plug in once, and thats it. Run an appliance a few hours a week and thats it. They aren't specifically made to pull high levels of current consistently for 5-8 hours daily.

This is where Industrial grade receptacles come in. More recently, manufacturers have been addressing this issue by manufacturing 14-50 receptacles with a green icon indicating that it is rated for the continuous flow of current that EV's demand.

The materials used in these engineered solutions are more robust, include better heat dissipation capabilities, are made of materials far more resistant to wear with plugging in, and are almost always fitted with copper instead of plated materials that aren't able to stand up to the demands of charging an EV.

Without a proper Receptacle and installation, it doesn't matter what charger you plug in, the risk is high. Don't let $50-100 get in the way of selecting an outlet specifically designed to safely charger your vehicle without the failures standard receptacles are exposed to when used in this application.
