Sunny Afternoon Arrivals at Manchester Airport, incl Rare A340! 09-06-23

A visit to Manchester Airport for some of the 2023 Champions League charters. Sadly not as diverse as previous years but the highlight has to be the A340 of Plus Ultra which came in to take Man City fans to Istanbul for the final. In additon Turkish also sent in a 787 and there were a few extra flights from Pegasus as well. The weather was great too, a nice hot sunny June afternoon. It was also good to see some of the Summer charter aircraft in use, notably the Jet2 A330's which are always a great sight to see.

The southern runway operations have changed again too and now are only open between 7am and 9am in the morning, and then reopen at 11am till 4pm. This caught me off guard when arriving just before 11 to see aircraft still landing on 05L. So the first handful of clips were landings there, including a Virgin A350 which aborted its approach. Not sure what the reason was, but still a nice feature.

Overalll a great mix of Summer movements on a warm day. Lots of exciting stuff to be seen. It was definitely a highlight to see the A340-300, a rare aircraft type to be seen nowadays and even rarer to see at Manchester
