For the second year running, the 2025 Gladstone Ports Corporation Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race would start in very light conditions on Moreton Bay, with 29 mono and multihull yachts barely moving across the line. For thousands of on-land, on-water and online spectators, it was fascinating to watch, with all yachts desperately looking for wind to get a jump on their rivals.
Bill Barry Cotter's 'Maritimo-52', skippered by legendary Aussie yachtsman Michael Spies, would be favourite for line honours and a couple of double-handlers ', Ryujin', skippered by Alex Toomey and Andrew Hibbert and Spetsig with Peter Kerr and Trevor Crew, would start favourite in the IRC - Courier Mail Cup.
