This is my experimental spin on the Swedish folk tune "Josefin's Waltz." I took the traditional mandolin melody and surrounded it with layers of electronic atmosphere, creating something that lives somewhere between old-world folk and modern ambient music.
I wanted to keep the heart of the original tune while exploring what happens when you let it drift through clouds of reverb and electronic textures. It's become this meditative piece that hopefully works whether you're a folk purist or more into atmospheric soundscapes.
The original tune was written by Roger Tallroth of the band Väsen, and I first learned it during a session at an Irish pub in Peekskill, NY. It's really fun to play because of how the notes are simple but the arrangement tells a story. It's been a cool journey taking it from that traditional setting into this more experimental space.
Perfect for focused work, meditation, or just drifting away for a few minutes. Hope you enjoy this meeting of old and new.
