Charles Vane + Nassau || Call Me

This idea came mainly from my love of how much Billy Bones respected Charles Vane and tried to save him at the end of Season 3. I started thinking about a friendship video for them at about the same time that I reached a newfound appreciation of Max and Idelle. Those ladies' faces at the hanging stole my heart. With those three bizarre relationships in mind, this video quickly fell into place. Why not create a video showcasing the various Charles + Nassau bonds? Such a video obviously also needed Jack, Anne, Flint, and Teach. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the friendships and family ties and loyalties Charles had with each of these characters.

Here's a few thoughts on each "ship":

Charles/Jack
As a general rule, whenever I vid Charles and Jack together I end up crying like a fool. I love them so much. Their friendship is truly my favorite. BroTP all the way.

Charles/Anne
They don't have a ton of one-on-one moments, but the few that they do have are powerful. They both love Jack and they have such a mutual respect for the other's pirating prowess.

Charles/Flint
Sigh, don't you just love a hate-turned-to-BFFs storyline? I do. I would've killed for more scenes of these two leading men kicking England's ass together.

Charles/Teach
Forever basking in the father/son, Mufasa/Simba angst vibes. So much fun to explore and will most likely be revisited at some point along the line. My mind wars between a Lion King crack something and a serious character study. Hmm...

Charles/Billy
My heart. Billy's fierce admiration for Charles and the subtext that Charles always wanted Billy on his crew....ARGH why didn't that get more screen time? Come on!

Charles/Max
I love whatever this is. I absolutely will revisit the complicated, tenuous alliance between these two. Their hate/power-play chemistry is fantastic and I adore the mutual understanding they had. Despite my general dislike for Max, I always enjoyed scenes between these two. Now that I understand Max better and she was upset at Vane's hanging...all aboard the Max bandwagon.

Charles/Idelle
I remember (vaguely) hating Idelle at first. Now she's one of my favorites. She didn't share many scenes with Charles, but her horrified face at his hanging and her expanding role with the resistance won my heart.

As a final note, I'm feeling lots of bittersweet feelings about Season 4 being the last. I'll most likely have to keep watching now, just to (hopefully) see them wrap up a few...things...that I'd like to see dealt with. May there be many Ranger Crew + Teach scenes and may the show finish off as strongly as possible post-Charles. Cheers to the writers and actors for giving me a show and characters that pushed my vidding creativity beyond what I ever planned, launched me into the wacky world of Tumblr, and broke my heart as only beloved things can.
