Futures Past Presents: 1930s German Porcelain Dog Perfume Aroma Lamp Restoration
Hello to all my viewers, fans, and subscribers on YouTube! It is time to breathe new life into a stunning piece of history. We are diving deep into the restoration of a rare 1930s German porcelain dog perfume lamp, complete with its original, soul-piercing hand blown German glass eyes. Also people that collect antique German bisque head dolls will love these as well.
This little terrier was found with its internal cord and plug completely severed, but we aren’t letting this piece of Art Deco lighting history fade away. For my fellow antique restoration enthusiasts, porcelain collectors, and canine lovers, this project is a masterclass in preservation. We will be performing a full rewiring to bring back that warm, vintage glow that these "perfume lamps" were famous for—originally designed to evaporate scented oils using the heat of the bulb.

The Historical Deep Dive
These dog lamps are highly sought after by collectors of German Bisque and Porcelain.
During the 1920s and 30s, companies like Carl Scheidig, Goebel, Ernst Bohne and Heubach produced these whimsical animal-shaped lamps. They served a dual purpose: a nightlight and an air freshener.
Features: Intricate hand-painted fur details and authentic blown glass eyes that "glow" when the lamp is illuminated.
Restoration Focus: Replacing the dangerous, degraded original wiring with a period-correct cloth cord or a safe modern equivalent while preserving the original socket housing.
High-End Retail Value:
In excellent, restored condition, some of these 1930s German canine dog, bird and animal art deco perfume lamps can fetch anywhere from $150 to $350+ at high-end antique boutiques or specialized eBay auctions. 🌟eBay prices will be A LOT CHEAPER of course as it is a bargain website seeing these (with broken, unsafe or missing wiring selling) in the $20-$50 ranges. German porcelain makers such as Goebel, Carl Scheidig, Rosenthal, Ernst Bohne, Fulper, Aerozon and many others made these along with figures, vases, fine china, statues, sculptures and figurines.
Rarer breeds or those with confirmed maker's marks (like the crown and 'S' for Scheidig) can even exceed those prices among serious porcelain lighting collectors.
