Описание: Are oil prices going to rise? Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, a drone attack occurred on Saudi Aramco's Ras Tanura refinery on March 2, 2026. Following the attack, global Brent crude prices surged by 10 to 13 percent, reaching close to $80 to $82 per barrel. This increase is due more to geopolitical risks than to direct supply disruptions. India imports 85 to 90 percent of its crude oil needs. It is estimated that every $10 increase in crude oil prices could add an additional $15 to $20 billion to India's import bill. If prices remain high for a prolonged period, petrol and diesel could become more expensive by 5 to 10 rupees per liter. This will increase transportation, food, and manufacturing costs, putting pressure on inflation. India primarily imports crude oil from Saudi Arabia, not processed petroleum products. Ras Tanura is a refinery, while crude production fields and major export terminals have not been directly affected. Saudi Arabia has other export routes and terminals, and its overall production is continuing. India's domestic refineries, such as Reliance Jamnagar and IOCL units, process imported crude oil domestically. Therefore, the potential for a direct supply shortage is currently considered low.
