Описание: Welcome back to part 2 in my series on Star Forts. Today we will take a long look at the oldest, and first, Bastion or Star Fort built in the United States of America.

Castillo De San Marcos, also known as Fort Marion for a short period of time, was constructed in St Augustine Florida in the 1600’s. Completed near the turn of the century, this Star Fort has stood for over 300 years. The history behind this Star Fort is quite a unique, if not highly questionable one.

We are told Castillo De San Marcos is built out of a mysterious material which is quarried in abundance near St Augustine. The earliest Native American cultures of the area provided settlers with not only this building material, but also the labor to construct much of the city of St Augustine.

St. Augustine has a Moorish, lavish, exquisite history, which is worth going over. Today we will take a look through the oldest and most unique photographs of The first American Star Fort, Castillo De San Marcos in Saint Augustine Florida, while briefly talking about the current narrative. We will follow up by discussing Coquina (which I definitely pronounce wrong), and also contemplate the Native American “Black Drink / Cassina” myth and legend.
