And roots were moving — serpent-wise

I wandered — where the moon forgot to shine…

And from the dark — I heard him low.

Under the firs — the shadows crawl!
He waits — beneath the mountain’s wall!
His breath — is frost, his hunger wide…
The Troll shall feast — where mortals hide!

I saw his shape — a crooked grin…
With bark for flesh — and bones of sin.
His tongue — was stone, his teeth were cold…
His gaze — a curse from ages old!

From ages old!

The wind — was chanting runes of death…
I felt his claws — upon my breath.
A thousand eyes — from bark and stone…
And still I walk — this wood alone!

This wood alone!

The forest moan!
