Main Ingredients
Moong Dal: 1/2 cup (yellow split moong dal, washed and soaked).
Basmati Rice: Slightly less than 1/2 cup (small grain aromatic variety preferred).
Milk: 1 liter (full cream milk, reduced by about 25%).
Sugar: 1 cup (or adjust to taste).
Water: 2 to 2.5 cups (for pressure cooking the dal and rice).
For the Homemade Mawa (Khoya)
Milk Cream (Malai): 1 cup.
Milk: 1 cup.
Milk Powder: 1 small packet (approx. 2 tablespoons).
Flavoring & Garnishing
Cashews: 1/2 cup (crushed).
Green Cardamom: 2 pods (seeds crushed).
Rose Water & Kewra Water: A few drops each.
Yellow Food Color: 2-3 drops.
