The Ceramic Association has announced a 25-day shutdown, citing unavailability of fuel and soaring costs that have made operations unsustainable.

The crisis has hit thousands of workers, especially migrant labourers from states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, many of whom are now returning home due to lack of work.

Industry representatives say operations will resume only when gas supply stabilises and prices become viable again. The shutdown has also impacted allied sectors such as transport, raw material supply, and trade, deepening the economic strain in the region.
