William Morris discusses the content and processes of his glass art in a question-and-answer gallery talk during the opening of his 2015 exhibit ILLUMINATED Glass.
Morris’ glass sculpture speaks of human origins, myth, ancestry, and ancient civilizations. Symbolizing a harmony between humanity and nature, the artist's extraordinary technical skills combine with a love for cultural history to create a body of work like none other. His pieces embody a spiritual quality that sharply contrasts old beliefs with those of the modern world.
Morris' exhibit inaugurated the 2015 opening of SJIMA's new building on Spring Street in Friday Harbor, along with the exhibit GLASS 3 (February 14 - May 12, 2015) by glass artists Raven Skyriver, Ross Richmond, and Shelley Muzylowski, shown in the museum's NORTH GALLERY.
