Eivør G Festival 2023 Series By the time you get to this I will most likely be in the Faroe Islands attending G Festival, the annual concert in Eivør’s hometown of Syðrugøta. I last went in 2010. I picked a few songs and videos for the occasion and venue, as it’s my first time seeing her live in years. I also attached a couple live videos in the 2nd and 3rd requests I may not have otherwise sent, but her 2022 tour style was a bit of a departure for her and I thought you’d appreciate seeing some of it. ————— This song (“My Mother”) from her 2004 album “Eivør” is a longer and reworked version of a song called “Føroyar Mín Móðir” (“Faroe Islands, My Mother”) from her very first album, 2000’s “Eivør Pálsdóttir,” a solo folk album she released when she was 17 years old and still working on the side with a terrible triphop band called Clickhaze. I believe that the particular version in the first video is from a different album entirely though, 2005’s “Trøllabundin” that she released with the Danish Radio Big Band. I may be wrong though. Both versions are about her love for her homeland (and probably her actual mother too). Anyway, the accompanying unofficial video features a lot of photos of the Faroe Islands. The second video (incorrectly identified by the OP as the 2000 version of the song) is a live performance at Skråen (a concert venue converted from an abandoned power station) in Aalborg, Denmark in 2007. She’s in the thick of her Viking princess style phase and performing with composer and multi-instrumentalist Gustaf Ljunggren.
