This is the May 2008 performance of “The Guilt Scene” from the opera Criseyde, with music and libretto (in Chaucer's Middle English) by Alice Shields, which took place at Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in NYC, performed by the New York City Opera VOX and in April 2008 by The American Virtuosi at Elebash Hall. The cast are Pandar: Lawrence Long, bass, and Troilus: Richard Byrne, baritone.
SUMMARY: In Troilus' bedroom, Troilus lies in the dark on his bed; Pandar lies on a bed across the room. Pandar is worried over
what people will think of him for pimping his niece to his boss. Troilus, grateful, offers Pandar one of his own sisters.
