The Election of an Abbot

Описание: Saint John's Abbey will elect a new abbot to succeed Abbot John Klassen, OSB, upon his retirement in early January 2024. In this video, Saint John's Abbey monks share their experiences with the process and discernment of electing a new abbot for the first time after 23 years.

The election will begin on January 8th to allow for nominations and prayerful discernment with the voting members of the Saint John’s monastic community. The first votes will be cast on the 9th and may continue through the 11th if necessary. The announcement of the new abbot will be made shortly after the confirmation of the final vote on any day between the 9th and 11th.
