Recommended technique tips:
Improve Body Rotation
Rotate your torso with each stroke instead of overreaching with your arms. Proper rotation reduces shoulder stress by distributing the workload through your core and spine rather than overloading the shoulder joint.
Maintain a High Elbow Catch
Enter the water with your hand slightly wider than your shoulder, then bend your elbow as you pull through. Keeping a high elbow position engages the larger back muscles, reducing strain on the rotator cuff.
Smooth Hand Entry
Avoid crossing your hand over the midline of your body. Enter the water in line with your shoulder and extend forward gently. This prevents internal rotation stress and decreases impingement risk.
Controlled Breathing & Head Position
Keep your head low and in line with your spine when breathing. Lifting or rotating the head excessively can increase shoulder tension and disrupt body rotation, leading to overuse injuries.
