Dabai (Canarium odontophyllum) is a prized, seasonal Bornean fruit, known as the "black olive of Sarawak," with a creamy, avocado-like taste that's eaten after soaking the hard, ripe fruit in hot water until the skin softens. It's enjoyed as a snack with salt or soy sauce, incorporated into dishes like fried rice, and valued for its nutritional content, offering healthy fats, protein, and antioxidants, though it has a short shelf life.
