My cousin Marc (angler/photographer extraordinaire) caught this weakfish, bled it perfectly in the surf, and helped me film this episode of catch and cook. Thanks coz!
Tbh, I love catching weakfish more than eating them; they are a delicacy for sure, though probably more beautiful to look at than to eat imo. Definitely a softer textured flesh, not very forgiving in terms of temperature window, but if you cook it correctly they are very good. Remember the limit is 1, and please consider single hooks (crushed barbs for even better karma) after you've harvested your daily limit...they were gone for over a decade in our waters, worst thing we can do is harm the stock at the first sign of recovery.
Here's to hoping these guys make a full comeback, would love to chase the big tiderunners from the yak at night! Speaking of kayaks...should be getting my i11s back this week.
