There is little to no harm in having a favorite book, favorite flavor of ice cream, or a favorite song.
Workplaces, however, can be tricky social environments, and it's not always easy to avoid playing favorites. Whether you're drawn to someone because they're similar to you, or because you feel like you can take advantage of them, favoring one employee over another can cause tension and resentment in the office.
Manager's having or displaying favoritism at work may be frustrating and feel personal. They should stop that practice and learn how to lead their team better and equally.
