Video Description
In the manner of the Lay of Leithian, we sing now of Aragorn and Arwen—the last echo of Beren and Lúthien in Middle-earth.
This musical adaptation tells the complete tale of Aragorn son of Arathorn and Arwen Undómiel, the Evenstar of her people, drawing from the Appendices to The Lord of the Rings and "The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen." Theirs is a story of love across the divide of mortality and immortality—a doom freely chosen, a hope held fast through sixty years of shadow, and a grace that points beyond the circles of the world.
In Arwen's choice, we see the reflection of her ancestor Lúthien Tinúviel, who long ages before forsook the life of the Eldar for love of Beren the mortal man. Yet where Beren and Lúthien's tale ends in the First Age with a brief return from death, Aragorn and Arwen's story closes the Third Age with a question left open—a hope unspoken, a light unfurled beyond the world's ending.

📖 FROM THE TEXT
"But Arwen went forth from the House, and the light of her eyes was quenched, and it seemed to her people that she had become cold and grey as nightfall in winter that comes without a star. Then she said farewell to Eldarion, and to her daughters, and to all whom she had loved; and she went out from the city of Minas Tirith and passed away to the land of Lórien, and dwelt there alone under the fading trees until winter came. Galadriel had passed away and Celeborn also was gone, and the land was silent.
There at last when the mallorn-leaves were falling, but spring had not yet come, she laid herself to rest upon Cerin Amroth; and there is her green grave, until the world is changed, and all the days of her life are utterly forgotten by men that come after, and elanor and niphredil bloom no more east of the Sea."
— The Lord of the Rings, Appendix A: "The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen"
🎵 ABOUT THIS ADAPTATION
This lay follows the structure and tone of Tolkien's own verse, particularly the Lay of Leithian (the long poem of Beren and Lúthien), employing rhyming couplets in iambic tetrameter. The musical setting draws from the Celtic and ethereal traditions that Tolkien himself associated with Elvish culture.
The recurring refrain "Undómiel" (Quenya: "Evenstar") serves as the emotional anchor of the piece, echoing the way "Tinúviel" functions in the elder lay.

"And thou, Melkor, shalt see that no theme may be played that hath not its uttermost source in me, nor can any alter the music in my despite. For he that attempteth this shall prove but mine instrument in the devising of things more wonderful, which he himself hath not imagined."
