Sorry for the delay in posting this update. The delay was due to appointment availability at my local dealer.
The short update is that the dealer, having tested the battery, couldn't find any fault and said that the battery was good. This is hardly the outcome that I wanted, but they advised to just see if it happens again and then report back.
Since it happened, I've seen more anecdotal accounts of this happening frequently to all models of Leaf since they came to market. In some cases, the battery has been swapped under warranty, but in mine case, the battery was not at fault.
I find this a little frustrating and just hope that there isn't an underlying problem with the 12v charging system. Only time will tell if it happens again.
While the car was at the dealer, I asked for the 'rapidgate' software fix to be done to the car. Unfortunately, applying the update caused an issue with the car which meant I couldn't collect it on the same day. More info in the video.
