I wanted a standalone DJ unit but nothing met my requirements. So I built my own.

*multiple* USB ports for storage drives on the top (necessary for going back to back with other DJs)
separate booth vs main output
beveled screen, easily viewed while performing
strictly pioneer layout to practice for spinning at the club.

I also wanted it to cost under $500. It is ridiculous that the XZ for example costs over $3,000.

It turns out that you can load mixxx onto a raspberry pi such that you can plug in a pioneer DJ controller, then build your own mixer using NE5532 op amps to create a separate booth output. The real magic is building the enclosure out of something strong (acrylic) then mounting RCA and USB type-c plugs to the back such that it just sort of snaps into an existing controller, in this case an FLX4, effectively creating an all-in-one unit.

I plan to continue development on this and I'm excited for the possibility of 3D printing a more elegant enclosure and also adding native USB eject/ management capabilities into mixxx so that I can replicate the USB management of a pioneer controller.
