To be sold at a Two Day Auction of Antiques and Fine Art with Wines & Spirit, Silver, Jewellery, Watches & Toys at The Cheshire Saleroom, Macclesfield on Thursday 29th June & Friday 30th June 2017.
A probably Swiss late 19th century tortoiseshell cased singing bird box, the central gilt foliate and floral engraved hinged lid enclosing a bone beaked twitter with vibrant iridescent multi-coloured plumage on pierced foliate scroll grill, 10 x 6.5 x 3.5cm, with key, in fitted leather box.
Purchased at Christies, South Kensington, Mechanical, Ornamental, Turning and Technical Apparatus Sale, 20th July 1999, lot number 151.
