Cyclone Montha is intensifying over the west-central Bay of Bengal, nearing the Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu coasts. Currently located about 230 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam and 370 km south of Visakhapatnam, the storm is expected to strengthen into a severe cyclonic storm by tonight. IMD predicts landfall between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam near Kakinada, with wind speeds reaching 90–110 km/h. Authorities in coastal regions are on high alert, and residents are advised to stay indoors and follow official advisories.
