A runaway wildfire that started in Cape Town on Sunday has wreaked havoc, razing historic buildings and icons.
Strong winds fanned the raging flames over the slopes of Devil’s Peak on Monday morning - pushing the fire towards Vredehoek in the Cape Town City bowl.
Additional fire crews were dispatched in the early hours to contain the blaze as it edged closer to homes.
